Time really does go by fast with babies. Note to self: Really listen to the old folks when they tell you to cherish every moment.
The preschool we toured was at a church and they start at age 2. The squirrel is 17 months so she'll be 2 in August. The cut off is September 1st so she will be able to go. Registration is next Thursday and I'll be in line to sign her up. She will be going to school Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-12 starting in September. The husband asked me why I was registering her so soon. The school has limited spots available and I don't want to be rushing around at the last minute trying to get her in somewhere. Then have her end up at some dump. I think he had a hard time realizing that she wouldn't be going to school now. She is still little but she has quite awhile before she goes. In the 2 year old class they actually follow a curriculum. She will have spanish, music, and gym class. Amazing huh.
Well after the tour we headed to the commissary for our usual grocery shop. We got a bunch of good stuff. Plus we got to eat lunch at Wendy's.
The squirrel got nuggets and fries and I got a salad. I may want my child to eat healthy 99% of the time but I don't deprive her of kid food. Ya know? You've got to eat nuggets and fries once in awhile. My salad was DELICIOUS. Probably one of the best fast food salads ever. I didn't take a picture because A: My mom was with me and she makes fun of me for taking pics of my food and B: The husband's boss was at a table across from us and I didn't want him to get made fun of for me taking pics of my food.
Check out my steal from the commissary...
After lunch I left the squirrel with my mom and headed to the gym. My pre-gym snack was a peanut butter Luna Bar.
For dinner we did Sara Snow's spaghetti sauce. Basically I just used our normal spaghetti sauce (we use Bertolli Organic Tomato and Basil) and added some veggies. The recipe says to add a can of tomatoes, 2 zucchinis, 1lb of spinach, and mushrooms. I didn't have any mushrooms and I added 97% lean ground beef.

OH MY GOSH was it good. I'll never make plain spaghetti sauce again! Here's the recipe... Or you can find it here.

2 T olive oil for pan
1 large onion
2 garlic cloves
1 package mushrooms - chopped
1 pound spinach
2 medium zucchinis - chopped
½ pound tofu – firm, drained and mashed to resemble a ground beef consistency (or use boca burger meat)
1 jar organic spaghetti sauce
1 14 oz can stewed tomatoes
1 bay leaf
1 t oregano
s & p to taste
½ t sugar or tamari
INSTRUCTIONS
Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil. Add mushrooms, spinach and zucchini. Cover and cook about 5 minutes. Add tofu, spaghetti sauce, stewed tomatoes, and seasonings. Balance with sugar or tamari (to taste). Serve over a whole grain pasta with salad and fresh garlic bread.

Oh and I have to share this picture with my family... Did you know most of my family and friends read this blog? Cool huh. Since I've got a big girl on my hands now (with preschool in the future and all) I bought some juice boxes at the store.
The squirrel knew exactly what she was doing!
Yes she is naked by the way... It's just easier that way. We eat spaghetti naked in our house... Well errrrr she does ;)
Now I'm off to lose a few brain cells and watch American Idol. Every year I saw I won't watch it and every year I find myself watching the idiots try out. I guess it makes me feel better that I'm not the only person in this world losing their mind.
Nite y'all.
Oh and The Fit Bride is giving away SOUP!

they don't look like nasty nanners at all! nice steal :). aww she is growing up so fast. i think it's good to be on the young side of your class, i'm a sept baby and i wouldn't have it any other way!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog! yours is so cute! I actually prefer the brown bananas because I can freeze them or make oatmeal with them.
puffins are the best and I haven't had them in quite some time - must change that ASAP!
love those lil squirrel pics ;)
Preschool?!?!? No way! Wow, that happens quick. I can't imagine. I love the juice box pic.
That spaghetti sauce has me drooling on the keyboard. YUM!
OK I just typed a biggy comment and then I think i deleted it. Anyway.....I can't wait to follow the Squirrels journey into preschool. I love the photo of the two of you....sooooo very sweet! She and you will do awesome!!
I need to try those chia seeds asap!!

Oh. My. Goodness! PRESCHOOL!?!? How exciting! I LOVED preschool!! Especially when we finger painted with chocolate pudding... hmm maybe that's where my chocolate obsession started...
So I can't help but think of bird seed every time I see your chia seed mix. lol Is it really that good? Doesn't it just get stuck in your teeth?
I never thought to SLICE the bananas before freezing!! YOU'RE A GENIUS!! haha I really do want to try one of your Ogre's. Still scared though... haha
I'm signing my son up for pre school too, he turns 3 tomorrow and starts in September! it's kinda sad actually because he's my baby :-)
I love spagetti! could have it every night!
Wish I'd of thought to feed my kids naked while they were babies! I would've had WAY less laundry to do!
I think your baby will love school! It's so good for them to get out and socialize without Mom & Dad always there.
I always look for over ripe naners at the store for the freezer and to bake with.
PS...my kids don't eat as healthy as I'd like them to!!! ;)
That is amazing that the preschool offers all those classes...especially spanish...now that is impressive!
I also totally agree with your theory on allowing your kids to indulge in fast food every so often. Growing up my parents treated fast food as a treat and now as an adult I still have that same mentaility. I don't eat it often at all so when I do I don't feel bad about it!

Haha, eating spaghetti naked. Love it. I'm sure it is easier! Less laundry anyway...
I can't believe 2 year olds have a curriculum! Crazy.
I like Wendy's salads too. If I want a salad and want it fast, it's my choice. Plus, I get a small frosty :)
your baby is the cutest thing!!
