Ok I'm done with my military rant for the moment... Can you tell he's not back from Haiti yet? That's another sore topic.
OOOOKAAAY back to breakfast! Since I was up early my coconut coffee was waiting for me...

Good morning sunshine!
Breakfast was actually eaten on the go. Strawberry banana overnight oats.

Last night I stirred together a cup of oatmeal, 1 strawberry oikos, and 1/2 cup milk. This morning I added a banana and a sprinkle of granola.
I dropped the squirrel off with my mom and headed to get our taxes done.
Ready for another rant?
It took me 30 minutes to find the stupid place once I was on base. I had directions to a parking lot near building 216. Once I drove around for 15 minutes looking for building 216 I called to ask for directions. The guy that answered the phone was a moron. It took me another 15 minutes to interpret his directions and I eventually had to ask some random person walking down the road. Turns out building 216 had no number and no sign to tell you that's where the taxes were being done. Sigh... The things I do for my husband. The Marine Corps may do those wonderful things for you but it's never easy... That's for sure.
We ended up getting a lot more back on our taxes than we thought so it was well worth the headache.
Lunch today was a turkey, apple, and cheddar sandwich with grainy mustard on pumpernickel. Plus the rest of the apple with some Barney Butter (I love the little sample packets!).

Dinner was meatloaf at my mom's! I love meatloaf...

She made this with lean beef and wheat bread. It was really yummy! Plus I had a baked potato with some 2% cheddar and more BS :)
So someone asked me in my last post what I like the most about being a mom. I've never been asked that question... Now I haven't been a mom for very long (18mos) but the question was so simple to answer! I love being able to influence her life. Maybe that sounds selfish... This might sound better... I love being able to help shape the person she is and is going to be. I like being able to teach her things that she will use the rest of her life. Is it not amazing to be able to teach someone how to speak and how to understand what they are saying? It is unbelievably rewarding to teach her something and then make her feel as proud as she does! Since my husband is in the military the squirrel and I spend a lot of time alone together. It may sound corny but that kiddo really is my best friend. She's who I spend every waking second with. Alright I won't get too mushy on you!
Some of her and Gus today...

I started this post with a rant and now I'm ending it with mush. Who knows where it would end up next.
Night y'all!!!

haha sorry USMC i don't think that makes up for it either! but he'll be home soon i hope! the bread on your sandwich looks awesome. aww, gus is such a good pup to her! i think being a mom has to feel like such a huge responsibility and opportunity too. it's true, you get to shape her, which is a daunting task but it's also a total miracle!
Sorry to hear about your tax troubles! Thank you and your husband both so much for your service to our country, though. It's amazing that their are people willing to sacrifice so much for the good of everyone :)
The Squirrel looks so cute sitting on Gus!
Oh my goodness...Gus!! He is beautiful! If he comes up missing tomorrow...don't look over here :P
I liked your answer (and it's not selfish)! Sometimes you need to rant & just get it all out.
And where did you get this coconut coffee?? Two of my favorite things :)
the coconut coffee sounds stellar and that mug is adorable, too! xoxo
the squirrel is so cute! I had no idea she was a preme! I just stumbled on your blog the other day and i've been coming back ! Love the pictures/ hearing about your lives :D Anyway you are certainly doing a fabulous job with her. :]
I want a professional to do my taxes for me (for free)!
That sandwich looks yummy.
Ohhhh, that makes me want to be mom. Mush away.
Great pictures! Also, I thank your husband very much for his service to our country!
Yea for tax refunds!
Oh my gosh, what kind of dog is that? He is gorgeous!!
Gus seems like an excellent dog!!!
I had overnight oats this morning - so good! They almost seem to satisfy my hunger longer than cooked oats?? Mmm, Barney Butter - ever had the crunchy? It's my favorite.
My kids are my best friends, too! Just wait until she gets older and you can be shopping buddy's!!! It's AWESOME.
Your sandwich makes me want to go out and buy a loaf of pumpernickel!
Gus really is an amazing dog! He is a saint bernard mix... With probably border collie? I definitely see the bernard in his looks and personality... He's a very BLAH dog but always ends up being everyone's favorite. :)
I'm so thankful we don't do our taxes here in the UK.
It's lovely to read about what you love about being a Mum. Everyone I know who has kids are always complaining and saying negative things about being parents and I always thought to myself what are the positives about being parents.

So the exact reason you love being a mom is the EXACT reason why it scares me to death to become a mom! But I think you, my dear, are one AWESOME mom...Kudos to you!! :)
Oh man that sandwich looks awesome!
