Craving Cantaloupe

I am really beginning to embrace Mondays. Just because I'm a stay at home mom doesn't mean I don't get a case of the Mondays. Monday is when the husband goes back to work and I go back to being alone with the squirrel. I've heard it before that many people would give anything to stay at home all day. It is nice and I do get to see the squirrel grow up. However, being home alone with a toddler that is literally tearing the house apart can wear on you.

I am starting to enjoy Monday though. I've just made it out to be my relaxed day. I clean the house from top to bottom and stay at home all day.

This morning I made an egg sandwich. Are y'all tired of these yet? They really are delicious!

Plus I had some new
coffee.

When we went to
Caprice Bistro the other night I had a cup of coffee. I knew it wasn't just regular ol' Folgers so I asked our waiter what it was. It was by Counter Culture and was a special blend made for them. The husband and I immediately went to The Fresh Market and sure enough they carried it! We got a special seasonal blend. The coffee is only harvested two months out of the year.

Wonderful...

The squirrel and I did head to the gym this morning. I just walked for 30 minutes on the treadmill while reading a new food book, Barefoot in Paris. I'm obsessed with French food.

Lunch was an ogre made with Amazing Grass.

Plus I mutilated a cantaloupe. It was my first time cutting one up. I normally just buy the precut.

On my way back from the gym I got a serious craving for cantaloupe. The husband recently told me that my pregnancy cravings were "just a mind thing". I know I'm pregnant therefore I know I should have cravings. I can see his point to some extent. However, pregnancy cravings are something that you just can't shake off. Normally, when I want something I can just busy myself with something else and ignore it. Now when I crave something I cannot stop thinking about it and would probably cry if I didn't have it. It's such a weird feeling.

So for lunch I gave in and bought a cantaloupe. I sprinkled mine with sea salt. I'm a sweet and salty kind of girl. It was everything I wanted it to be!

And for dessert (did you know you get dessert after every meal?) I had a piece of 99% cacao chocolate. The darker the better for me! Even the squirrel eats the 99%!

I bought that plus the World Market sea salt chocolate the other day.

I'd have to say it's better than the Lindt Sea Salt. It's just a darker chocolate and it seems like it has more salt.

What do y'all do about cravings? To you give in?

Thanks for stopping by my blog, yours looks wonderful and so happy. :D

Love love love, Barefoot in Paris! One of my all time favorites, and I am also glad to hear you loved the world market chocolate with sea salt. I have been wanting to try it out for awhile and now I will definitely be buying it!

I give into my craving way to much! I really need to learn to hold off on some of the cravings.

I craved so much fresh fruit last summer when I was pregnant as well...and I had a boy, and you're having a boy - must mean something! But, I will say I've only ever bought whole cantelope, never the pre-cut kind:)

I hear ya for the Mondays, staying at home, isn't all it's cracked up to be sometimes. I found little man with EVERY piece of tupperware I own pulled out this morning and our black lab was licking them all....needless to say I couldn't just put it back, it had to be washed...ugh.

Yep. Your lunch definitely looks like what a pregnant-women-with-craving's lunch should do!

I eat dessert after every meal, too. I think it's a necessary part of life!

I love trying new coffees! I'm currently brewing a french roast that I really like.

the other day I had cantalope wrapped in prosciutto. talk about sweet and salty. (I know it sounds so weird, but it's incredibly delicious...and since you sprinkle salt on yours anyway....)

When I was pregnant, I CRAVED scallops. All the time, prepared any way. Still enjoy them, just not with the same intensity. Enjoy!

I recently tried chocolate with sea salt and I was a fan! I'm so impressed that your kid is a foodie as well :) I know it's sad but it's kinda comforting to know that Mondays are blah for everyone!

Fresh cantaloupe cannot be beat! I usually buy it precut as well, but it's cheaper whole. Nice job on the 30 minute walk, it's tough for me to go to the gym in this heat!

I'll never tire of egg sandwiches! I like your approach to Monday's. THis will be me soon and I have a bit of anxiety about it..not just Mondays, but the winter in general.

I love when I crave healthy things, like fruits and veggies. Lately, I've been craving a cheese steak hoagie and it's driving me wild! I know I will eventually give in to it, but for now, I'm able to keep it at bay. I can completely relate to cravings being different during pregnancy-I'm the exact same way-I just can't shake it!

I usually give into my cravings, because if I don't I will eventually give in and eat way too much. If I just eat a little bit right away, I don't have to worry about binging.

I love chocolate with sea salt! If I'm cravings something I try to wait a bit to see if it'll go away. if not, I go ahead and eat it.

I'm so curious to see what my cravings will be like when I'm pregnant. Everyone around me jokes that they will be for McDonald's or something else that I always refuse to eat.

I'm amazed that you like that dark of chocolate, I think 60-70% is the darkest I can handle.

You are so right about pregnancy cravings. They are different and go so much deeper. I actually have in fact shed tears over not getting something I was craving. And what's really odd is sometimes I would crave things I hadn't even eaten in YEARS.
