Italian Recipes?

I'd have to say my favorite food is Italian. Bruschetta, ravioli, panzanella, gelato, fresh bread, lasagna, salad. Oh I could go on. Maybe in another life I was Italian?

Nothing in this food world makes me happier than a bowl of pasta. Hot or cold.

It can be as simple as dinner last night.

Whole wheat rigatoni with lean beef pasta sauce and a sprinkle of parm. I love the whole wheat rigatoni. It's big and chewy and the ridges hold a lot of the sauce.

I also had a field green salad with kale, golden rasins, and organic feta. I tossed it with equal parts olive oil and red wine vinegar.

I picked up organic feta at the store on accident. I noticed when it rang up as one million dollars. I'm not one of those people that cause chaos so I just paid for it and took it home. Worth. Every. Penny. Time to start splurging on organic cheeses!

Two bowls of goodness.

Breakfast this morning was the famous OIAJ. Plus a chai latte. I had a vanilla chai latte at Starbucks the other day and it was just ok. I kept thinking I could do it better at home and save $4. Seriously, 4 bucks for a small and most of it was ice!

So yesterday I brewed some regular ol' chai tea. 1 small teabag for every cup of water. I steeped it for 10 minutes because I knew it would get iced down and diluted with milk. Then this morning I just added milk. I'm not a huge fan of sweet drinks but you could definitely add agave or add some sugar while the tea is still hot.

I was right.

I did it better.

So back to the oats... I used a packet of this stuff...

The ingredient list is SIMPLE and yes it does add extra sugar. The thing is though I would have added brown sugar to my oats anyways. At least it was controlled in the packet and not by me. It's made with rolled oats and other whole grains. Not too bad Quaker!

I dumped it into an empty PB&Co jar and also added some chias and a splash of maple syrup. Heaven.

And for the rest of today this is what we are doing...

Check up my set up in the background. Kiddie pool and beach chair. I just take my book out there and take a dip in the pool when I get too hot! Don't be jealous! ;)

What is your favorite Italian recipe? Please share! I'd love to try it!

Looks like my backyard! Lawn chair, book and baby pool!

I'm with you - I could eat pasta everyday. I'm making a new one tonight, chicken florentine pasta, that I will probably feature tomorrow on my blog, if it turns out!

My latest favorite is white lasagna!

I like thin, tiny noodles, like spegettini or angel hair pasta, but I'd take big thick noodles any day!
Love the yard set up!

I love pasta. It's really amazing stuff. My favorite is my grandmom's homemade green spaghetti. The green comes from spinach. It's so tasty!

I grew up in an Italian household so that genre of food is the one I reach for least! LOL I do appreciate a good cacciatore, though!

I bought a kiddie pool too. It was supposed to be for the dogs, but it's too hot to only let them cool off!
