Kardea Bar Review

I must have got my "muchness" back for dinner last night because boy was it good!

I made some homemade breadcrumbs.

Just 2 slices of Great Harvest dakota bread toasted, cut up in the food processor with spices.

Then I breaded some chicken with it and baked it. I also made simple mashed taters (potatoes, skim milk, and a wee bit o' butter) and cooked carrots.

So simple and honestly, not too bad for you!

My late night snack was one of these guys...

Heyyyyoooo I'm addicted! I heart these things! They are only 150 calories and they even have the chocolate in the end of the cone!

Breakfast this morning was the same ol' thing. Sandwich thin, egg beaters, laughing cow, and tiger sauce.

Here's the stats on that sammie.

205 calories
19.5 grams of protein
25 carbs
3 grams of fat

That includes 1 sandwich thin, 1/2 cup of egg beaters, 1 light laughing cow cheese wedge, and 1 tsp tiger sauce.

Pair it with fruit and you've got an awesome breakfast. I usually snack on the squirrel's morning fruit and have a cup of coffee with skim milk.

Lunch today was squirrel inspired. She had a PBJ so I had the same.

Another toasted sandwich thin, 2 tsp almond butter, 1 tablespoon Crofter's Asia jam, 1 tsp honey, and a sprinkle of chias. I did one with jam and one with honey.

Plus I had a yogurt.

Ugh... Where is my natural food going?! Skinny cow icecream? Yoplait yogurt? Help! It's so easy to get sucked into the ease of processed foods.

Nancy over at

She sent me 4 flavors:

THat chicken looks wonderful. Gourmet bread crumbs :)

My favorite bars are Balance Bars. They aren't all- natural, but they taste like candy bars and have 15 grams of protein.

I never even thought about using a thin hamburger bun as an alternative to an english muffin before. I'm going to have to try that! Thanks.

Love your blog! And you are SO right about seeing food products on other blogs that you can't find in your own grocery stores....SO frustrating! I haven't seen Crofter's at my local store.

Thanks for the comment on my blog! I love your blog! I just read your story- so interesting. I'll be reading through your archives for sure. Oh and I saw that you are married to a pilot too. Mine is commercial, but I still related to your "rant" in your 'about me' section.

Chicken breast gets so boring to me just baked or bbq'd, I never think to put bread crumbs on it! I can see how it would lock in juices and make it really tasty! great idea.

I really like Fiber One bars. They take the edge off for me. I love the homemade breadcrumb idea!

I think my favorite bars these days are Larabars for the simple ingredient list and variety of tasty flavors. I also love Fruition bars but they are super sweet and at over $2/bar, I don't buy them too often. :)

Your chicken dinner has inspired me! I've got chicken defrosting in the fridge for dinner tonight, but wasn't sure what to make!
