Counting Calories

I bought a bunch of pizza dough at the store. They were 10 for $10 so I bought 5 dough balls. I figured I'd better start making pizza so that's what we had for dinner last night.

Whole wheat pizza crust with a little bit of olive oil and garlic as the sauce, chicken, leftover roasted veggies, and part skim mozzarella. It was so good. I need to do that more often. Kitchen sink pizza!

Last night I also made myself overnight oats.

So I did some calorie counting last night... I hate calorie counting but it seemed like I was losing control of what I was putting in my overnight oatmeal.  I want my breakfast to be right around 500 calories.  When I added everything up this is what I came up with. 1/3c rolled oats, 1/3c soy milk, 1/3c yogurt, 1T chias, 1T Wild Squirrel peanut butter, and a half of a banana.  It all came up down to the peanut butter and granola.  The high calorie stuff.  Peanut butter won.  I skipped the granola.  This came to around 450.  I was overdoing it for sure.

Plus I had soymilk in my coffee so I'm thinking it was right around 500 total.

I was at the gym at 8:00 on the dot and worked out for a half an hour with my personal trainer.  I did about 15 different exercises.  I never thought my body could be so exhausted after just 30 minutes.  Then he told me to do 30 minutes of cardio!

In a rush to get to the gym on time I forgot my snack at home. I found a kids clif bar in my car and ate that in the car.

We ate lunch at Zoes Kitchen.

As always a lean turkey pita and fruit.

Check out the weather today.

Isn't that insane?!

You could say it's been a mild winter here.  70* one day and then 30* as a low the next day!  Come on weather.

Are you a calorie counter?

I don't count calories per say, but I try more to pay attention to make sure i'm eating a balanced diet. My Fitness Pal is how I do it. It has been very helpful to me to log my food there and see (as a vegetarian) whether I am light on protein for the day or whether I am over on calories, carbs, etc. i find it to be an invaluable tool.

I'm definitely aware of my calories. I like knowing how many calories my meals contain so I can better plan my days.
