Consistent Calories

We made cake pops last night!

It was a lovely mess of icing, candy melts, and sprinkles... sprinkles everywhere.

I had dinner at my mom's and ended up having mac-n-cheese and peas.  Plus one cake pop.

This morning I was headed to the gym so I started my day with a protein shake and 2 clementines.

I'm loving the simplicity of this.  I make the shake (2 scoops of protein powder+soy milk) the night before and grab fruit on my way out the door.

It keeps me fully and gives me some energy at the gym.

After the gym I'm definitely ready for a snack which is usually pretty high in calories for a snack only because I didn't eat that much first thing.  I've got to keep track of that.  I can easily under eat in the morning but it always results in over eating in the afternoon.  I need to be consistent with calories and spread them evenly throughout the day.

I had an awesome session with my trainer which I needed.  We are finally starting to bond a little.  He's a little reserved and so am I so it's taken a bit.  After 30 minutes of weight training and 30 minutes of cardio I headed to a friends house for lunch and kiddo play time.

I grabbed a nonfat vanilla soy latte.

My new obsession.  Peppermint mochas got old.

Plus I snacked on my last Luna Bar in the car.  I love this flavor!  Sweet and salty!

The kids played and we had lunch.

I brought salad (greens, apples, pecans, feta, and cinnamon dressing) and she made spinach and cheese strata (subbing feta for the gruyere).  We work well as a team don't we.  This was so so so good!  I could have easily had another helping or two!

Are you pretty consistent with calories or is any meal bigger than another?

I have yet to master cake pops. Last time I made them it was a disaster.

Definitely. I am under-eating in the morning and over-eating in the evenings. This has always been an issue for me so I'm trying to eat mini meals throughout the day so I'm not starving by dinnertime.

Your cake pops look great! Mine were also a disaster!

I am at my lowest weight (even since having twins) and I feel it is from not worrying all the time about counting calories! I was on Weight Watchers (lifetime member) for five years. I am still mindful of what I eat/how much I exercise, but I do not stress over it!

I'm so not consistent with calories throughout the day. I eat way more during the day and go pretty light at dinner. That's because I munch a lot throughout the not too exciting workday. Also, since I workout first thing in the morning, I'm actually a lot more hungry during the morning.

There are so many little tips to make good cake pops. Dip the stick in the candy melts and then put the cake on. Then put them in the freezer so they won't fall off when you dip them! I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems staying consistent with calories.

@KellyI think I need to stop worrying too. It almost ruins some of my meals because I'm trying to count calories from the morning or snacks. Time to stop worrying!

Ok, that strata thing looks SO good!

I tend to have a slightly smaller amount of calories during the day because I'm at work and usually pretty busy. Plus, I normally have a glass of wine at dinner and I need to save a little bit for then. I know it's probably not best to have a top-heavy day of calories, but that's the way I enjoy eating, and I usually do my workouts in the evening too.

I have yet to try a cake pop but they always look so fun to eat!
