Why Do You Blog?

Dinner was my kids favorite last night. Pizza? Tacos? Mac-n-cheese? Nope!

Grilled chicken (on the foreman), brown rice (in the rice cooker cooked with veggie broth), and steamed broccoli (steamed over the rice in the rice cooker).  I moved my nutritional yeast to the cheese drawer so I'd use it in place of cheese.  It was getting neglected in the cupboard.  I added it to my broccoli last night and it was great.

Breakfast was toast with almond butter, chias, and honey.

Today was back to normal!  Squirrel went back to school and little buddy and I headed to the gym after we dropped her off.  I biked 10 miles in 40 minutes and called it good.  I'll probably do some kinect or at least get a walk in this afternoon.

Lunch was another salad.  I know these will get boring but I'm trying to get rid of this cold so bring on the nutrients!

Greens, craisins, chick peas, carrots, celery, mmmm sauce, and nutritional yeast.

Plus two clementines on the side.

Did y'all catch the news over at Kath Eats Real Food?  Of course you did.  Did you read the post that sparked all the comments over how boring her posts have become?  If you didn't I guess some readers commented and told her that her blog was boring and they didn't want to read it anymore.  I have mixed feelings about it because it is her own personal blog but she does get paid to do it.  So does she have to make her own blog entertaining?  I don't know... This kind of goes back to my salad for the day.  I know it's boring but I blog to moderate my food intake.  I do like inspiring people to try new things and new recipes but I mostly do it to keep track of the food I am eating.  I'm not trying to entertain anyone and I never want blogging to be a job.

Why do you blog?  To entertain others, for a creative outlet for yourself, to use it as a food journal?

What a great idea to move unused food items to another place in which they will be used! All of my healthy eats are in the far corner cabinet of my kitchen, while the quick and easy snacks are in the first, easily accessible cabinet. Maybe I need to switch those two around. ;-)

I blog to share my experiences with the world. I wish my writing were as gung-ho and optimistic as Enjoying the Small Things, or as heart-grabbingly eloquent as Any Mommy Out There. It's not, but, oh well. Entertaining or not, it's the best I can do.

I blog for fun and when I feel like it. I love it when bloggers show me what they eat and what they buy at the grocery store. Mostly I just blog pictures of random things like kids and food and if people want to read great if not who cares.

I blog for several reasons: because I love to write and share ideas, to help others, to have an outlet to talk about my food/fitness/weight issues, and just for fun.

@Laura Jane @ Recovering Chocoholic I too blog to talk about food and fitness. I actually don't have any friends or family interested in healthy living like me. So I do use this as a way to talk about what I love. My husband likes to talk about it but I'm sure there's only so much he can take :)

Ok, I totally wrote about something similar when Tina at Carrots n Cake started catching flak for writing about Cross Fit "too much". (you can read it here if you are interested: http://eatrunwrite.com/home/2012/01/09/should-bloggers-be-bound-to-their-feeback/)

I blog for fun, as a personal diary, to keep myself accountable, and to make new friends. I suppose if I got paid for it, I would definitely try to take comments into account and provide content that is useful to my readers, but as a hobby, I reckon my blog is my domain and I'll write what I please!

@ErinI read your post! I really don't think they should cater to their readers. Maybe think about what they say but my theory is if you don't like it find a new blog to read. Ya know? Tina may lose readers but she'll probably gain a bunch of people that do crossfit. I actually don't care for her blog anymore because of all the crossfit and paleo stuff but I just stopped reading. No big deal.

I don't read Kath's blog as it doesn't do much for me, so I hadn't read the critique and her big news. While I agreed with some of the commenters, I also think that if you don't like a blog, you just don't read it. Blog reading is a choice and I choose to read that blogs that resonate with me. I thought some folks on her blog got a little too nasty - just stop reading if she annoys you!

Granted I don't make a living on my blog, but I blog for me. It's a hobby and I want it to be enjoyable.

You have inspired a couple of meals for me :) (loving hummus and cheese in a wrap!)
I originally started blogging to keep track of food/exercise and just daily life... but that wasn't me! I think I was trying to blog like a friend.... then it turned into a place to share about our struggle with infertility, the road to pregnancy, and now life with twins!! It is now more of a way to keep up with the babes, like an online baby book!

I am not a fan of people leaving negative comments... if you don't like a blog, or think it is boring -DON'T read it! No need to be negative to other people!

I blog as a creative outlet for myself. I don't claim to be particularly knowledgeable in any facets of "healthy living", it's just something that I'm interested in. And i like to talk about myself!

Half creative outlet, half scrapbook. I just scrapbook more with words than pictures.

I'll have to try the veggie broth brown rice. Can you believe brown rice is actually cheaper here now that white in our local grocery store. How about that?
